About Us

The Vane Brothers Company has served the maritime industry in the Port of Baltimore and the U.S. Eastern Seaboard for more than 100 years. Today, we are comprised of seven divisions operating out of the ports of New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Norfolk, Charleston, Savannah and Jacksonville.

Since establishing a ship chandlery in 1898, Vane Brothers has always exemplified a commitment to quality and excellence. While the chandlery no longer exists, it has been replaced by a fleet of more than 50 tugs, over 70 barges and two freight boats ready to meet the ever-changing challenges of the maritime industry.

Over the years, the Vane Brothers Company has worked to set the standard of excellence in the maritime industry with our state-of-the art equipment, seasoned crews and a commitment to safety. When Captain William Burke Vane first came ashore in 1898, he sought to find a better way to serve sailors. By continuously reinventing the company, Vane Brothers has thrived in an ever-changing industry while retaining the spirit of a small family business.

Under the leadership of third generation C. Duff Hughes, the future of Vane Brothers is very bright. As we continue to meet our goal of standardizing our fleet, our dedication to safety and customer satisfaction remains at the forefront. Learn more about the services we offer.
