The Vane Brothers Company aims to exceed all federal, state, local, and customer safety and environmental regulations. The combination of our proactive safety program, aggressive maintenance schedule, and use of the highest quality equipment ensures that Vane will continue to operate safely and productively.

The key elements of our safety program are training, certification, and continuing investment in reliable equipment. The Safety Management Team routinely conducts in-service training and on-shore refresher programs. In addition, our crews attend courses detailing new navigation techniques, fire fighting, and dangerous cargo handling.

The Oil Pollution Act of 1990 mandates that all petroleum carrying tank barges be double skinned by 2015. Vane has committed to an aggressive schedule of building state-of-the- art, double skinned barges to meet this deadline well before 2015. Both personnel and equipment are also certified routinely by U. S. Coast Guard staff, customers and independent auditing agencies.
