Patapsco Class Tugs
Vane’s 15 Patapsco Class tugs are designed by Frank Basile of Entech & Associates, in collaboration with veteran Port Captain James A. Demske. Built in Houma, Louisiana by Thoma-Sea boat builders, Patapsco-class tugs are traditional 4,200 horsepower model-bow towing vessels built for eastern seaboard notch-pushing and off-shore towing.
Patapsco-class tugs are nearly identical in design and hull form--95’ long, 34’ wide, 15’ deep. Powered by two Caterpillar 3516, 2100 horsepower diesel engines, they maintain running speeds of better than 12 knots. Each vessel provides comfortable accommodations for seven crew members.
