Brandywine & Double Skin 141
Articulated tug and barge (AT/B) Brandywine and Double Skin 141 were built in 2006 by the Manitowoc Marine Group, owners of both Marinette Marine Corporation in Marinette, Wisconsin and Bay Shipbuilding Company in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Together, at nearly 600’ in length, the Brandywine and DS-141 make up Vane’s first AT/B.
Completed in December 2006, and christened on June 2, 2007 at a Grande Celebration at Fleet Headquarters in Fairfield, tug Brandywine is 215 gross tons, and measures 123’ long, 38’ abeam, and 22’ deep. The Brandywine features twin EMD 12-710-G7B engines, generating approximately 6,000 horsepower. Her fuel capacity is 135,875 gallons. She carries a regular crew of eight. Tug Brandywine joined the fleet in January 2007, and was subsequently named one of the “top 17 tugs of 2007” by American Tugboat Review, an annual publication of Professional Mariner.
