Chesapeake

Following the tugs Patapsco, Nanticoke, and Wicomico, the Chesapeake is the fourth in a line of Patapsco-class tugs.  She is slightly larger than her sister tugs, at 116’ long, 36’ abeam, and 17’ deep.

The Chesapeake was designed by Frank Basile of Entech & Associates, and built by the Thoma-Sea Boat Builders in Houma, Louisiana.  Her gross tonnage is 213 tons.  She is powered by two CAT 3516, 2500 horsepower engines with Kort nozzles.  Featuring a model bow and square stern, she can accommodate seven crew members. The Chesapeake is dedicated to 50-class tank barges on the coastwide trade.
