Donna Kay
Built at Bollinger Shipyard in Lockport, Louisiana in 1965, the Donna Kay was designed with a low silhouette to pass beneath the bridges on the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers. A sturdy inland towboat, she is powered by twin Caterpillar 1800 horsepower diesel engines. Vane acquired the Donna Kay from Piney Point Transportation Company. She measures 72’ long, 26’ wide, and 8’ deep. The Donna Kay is named in honor of Donna K. Kuemmer, Vane’s Chief Administrative Officer, who joined Vane Brothers in 1988.
She is seen here underway with an oil barge off Sewells Point Anchorage in Hampton Roads, Virginia.
