Sassafras

The tug Sassafras is the first in a line of new Vane Class tugs. Built by Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, Maryland, she is 94’ long, with a 32’ beam, and a depth of 13'. The Sassafras is a 3,000 horsepower vessel and has a single drum hydraulic winch built by JonRie of New Jersey. With accommodations for seven crew members, the Sassafras will be dedicated to 30,000 barrel tank barges.
