The Patapsco



The tug Patapsco (IMO 8987151) is the first in a forthcoming line of Vane tugs that will soon be recognized along the Eastern Seaboard as Vane Class boats.  Built in Houma, Louisiana, by the Thoma-Sea Boat Builders, she was completed on April 26, 2004.  The Patapsco is 97.5’ long, with a 34’ beam.  Her gross tonnage is 99 tons.  She is powered by two CAT3516, 2100 BHP engines with Kort nozzles.  Featuring a model bow and square stern, her fuel capacity is 89,910 gals.; potable water capacity is 8,816 gals.  With accommodation for 7 crew members, the Patapsco is dedicated to the tank barge Double Skin 55 on the coastwise trade.
