The Alexander Duff

The towboat Alexander Duff was built in 1981 by Brice Shipbuilding in Chauvin, Louisiana, and has been sailing under the Vane flag since 1994. The vessel is powered by twin 1000 horsepower Cummins Engines, measures 60 feet long, has a 24 foot beam and a draft of 7 feet. The Alexander Duff is operated primarily on the upper Delaware Bay pushing tank barges from oil terminals to ships in the ports of Philadelphia and Wilmington. The Alexander Duff was named in honor of the company president's eldest son, Alexander Duff Hughes. She is seen here enroute on the Delaware River with Philadelphia's Benjamin Franklin Bridge in the background.
