The Mitzie Hughes

The towboat Mitzie Hughes was built in 1973 at the Terrebonne Shipyard in Houma, Louisiana. She is an 800 horsepower, twin screw towboat that pushes tank barges primarily on the intercoastal waterways, Hampton Roads, and the Chesapeake Bay. The Mitzie Hughes was named in honor of the company president's wife, Karen Greenwood Hughes. She is seen here on the Elizabeth River in Norfolk Virginia passing under the Beltline Railroad Bridge.
