Vane Brothers Helps Historic Tanker Get to New Home

The Vane Brothers Company had the honor in May of working with PortSide NewYork to move the historic tanker Mary A. Whalen to its new home. The tanker left Pier 9B inside the Red Hook Containerport and, with the assistance of the Vane tug Quantico Creek, was relocated to the Pier 11 Atlantic Basin. John Bowie, Port Manager at Vane’s New York office, came out in the company’s launch to witness and photograph the event. The Quantico Creek went nose to tail with the tanker, easing her into her new spot.

Jonathan Atkin Aerial Productions used drones to capture the move. Check out the video: http://portsidenewyork.org
