Vane Brothers Marine Safety and Services provides life-saving safety equipment and support from the Port of New York to Wilmington, NC.
With over a century of experience, we supply compliant marine safety solutions for all vessel types, including new and USCG-approved liferafts, immersion suits, fire suppression systems, lifeboat/davit inspections, release gear service, and regulatory guidance.
Services

We regularly inspect an array of liferaft sizes, from four-person pods up to those for 25 or 50 persons. Our services can be turned around during extremely short port stays, day or night, and in all types of weather. New and replacement equipment is in stock at all locations handling our expansive service region.
Our factory-trained technicians perform liferaft inspections and repacking in accordance with the manufacturers’ instructions and standards set by the U.S. Coast Guard and SOLAS. Our additional accreditations include ABS, Lloyds, DNV, RINA and the Russian Registry.

As a professional Lifeboat and Lifeboat Davit Inspection station, Vane Brothers pays close attention to all aspects of lifeboat safety. Ever mindful of current safety measures, our technicians provide expert responses to the specific needs of customers in the continental U.S., Canada and the Caribbean, delivering the type of personal service that is paramount to the important work we do.
Vane Brothers is Manufacturer- and Class-certified for Lifeboat and Davit Inspections. This includes:
• Annual Inspections
• Five year Inspections: Load Testing
• Lifeboat Inspections and Repair
• Release Gear, Hook, and Brake Inspections and Repair
• Davit and Winch InspectionsInspections are conducted according to IMO Maritime Safety Committee - MSC.402(96) and manufacturers’ guidelines.
We also encourage vessel crews to perform weekly and monthly inspections and routine maintenance as defined by the manufacturer, under the direct supervision of a senior ship’s officer (as recommended by the IMO MSC).

Vane Brothers carries a large selection of personal flotation devices (PFDs) and safety accessories. We are a single source for the complete line of Survitec, Mustang, Stearns and Revere life jackets, ice rescue and immersion suits, as well as distress signals and Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs).

Marine Safety's technicians ensure that load test requirements are handled with the highest level of care and proficiency. Issuance of Certificate is available onsite to satisfy the demands of flag and/or classification societies.
In addition, increased value and convenience are available since Marine Safety can provide load testing while also performing other important services mentioned here, such as lifeboat davit inspections, SCBA and fire equipment inspections, and liferaft services.

Vane Brothers inspects an array of fire suppression equipment on our customers’ vessels. Our technicians are approved by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) to handle onboard inspections of everything from Fixed CO2 systems and portable extinguishers to self-contained breathing apparatuses (SCBAs), emergency evacuation breathing devices (EEBDs) and portable gas monitors.
We also have a full-service fire suppression equipment shop for SCBA/EEBD refills, foam sample analysis and in-house Hydro testing.
We service RKI Systems.
